Public lecture by Matheus Serva Pereira, at the “Ciclo de Palestras: Lutas e resistências no Continente Africano”, organized by the research group Áfricas UERJ/UFRJ, on may 16, 2020. The lecture reflected on the historiographic use of the concept “resistance” to analyze the actions and experiences of Africans during the colonial period, through the academic perspectives produced in Brazilian and African historiographies, using in particular ways the concept “resistance”.
